TAMPA - Two Tampa residents were charged with murder Sunday after authorities said they fatally stabbed their significant others in two separate weekend incidents.
Fagner Barros-Dias, 24, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Tatiana Barros, 23. She was stabbed at about 11:35 a.m. Sunday, a Tampa police spokeswoman said.
Senita D. Daniels, 23, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of her on-again, off-again boyfriend, David Anthony McClain, 41. He was stabbed at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, a sheriff's office spokeswoman said.
After Tatiana Barros and her husband had an argument Saturday night, she stayed with friends in Town 'N Country. Sunday morning, she came back to their apartment at 3012 W. Giddens Ave. with friends to collect some items, police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said.
Barros-Dias asked for a moment alone with her and then stabbed her inside the apartment, McElroy said. Barros died at the scene.
The couple's 6-year-old son spent Saturday night at his aunt's house and was with his aunt Sunday. The Department of Children & Families will determine whether that is the best temporary placement for him, McElroy said.
At about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, deputies arrested Daniels, who is accused of repeatedly stabbing her boyfriend in the chest.
Daniels and McClain dated intermittently for a month before they moved into her mother's apartment at 1417 Court of Flags Court two days before the stabbing, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
At about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, McClain was cooking when Daniels went into the kitchen. She accused him of spreading lies about her, they started arguing and Daniels stabbed McClain, Carter said.
Her mother, who was not identified, heard commotion and went into the kitchen. She told McClain to run while holding back her daughter, who tried to stab him again, Carter said. McClain was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he died.
Authorities said Barros-Dias and Daniels both made statements about their roles in the stabbings. They were held at the Orient Road Jail late Sunday without bail.
