ST. PETERSBURG — Hours after being released from jail for beating up his girlfriend, 25-year-old Fareed Abdullah kidnapped the same woman Monday night and fled, authorities said.

Police, who were still searching for Abdullah late Monday, say he forced 24-year-old Camara Irving into a car with him and drove off.

The incident occurred at the Lincoln Shores Apartments, 11600 Fourth St. N. The couple recently moved to the area from Maryland, according to reports.

On March 29, St. Petersburg police arrested Abdullah on domestic battery and resisting arrest charges stemming from an incident with Irving, records show. Abdullah was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where he remained until he was released at 3:42 p.m. Monday.

Hours after his release, Abdullah arrived at Irving's apartment and hid in some bushes until she got home, according to witnesses. Once she got there, he initiated an argument with Irving, and they went inside her apartment. A short time later, he began to leave, but then returned. He smashed out a window and broke into the apartment, according to reports.

Abdullah, described as 5 feet 7 and 200 pounds, was then seen removing Irving from the apartment. While holding her in a headlock, he pushed Irving her into a Nissan Altima and held her down as he drove out of the apartment complex.

Monday night, St. Petersburg police launched a regional alert for Abdullah and Irving.

Abdullah, who has a tattoo of the word "untamed" on his neck, may have a soft cast on his right hand from a recent fractured bone injury, authorities said.

The pair were last seen in a 1998 Nissan Altima with Florida tag 075-JCT.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Petersburg Police Department at (727) 893-7780.
